Part I: Answer any three of the following essay questions. Your answer to each question should be a minimum of one (double-spaced typed) page and a maximum of than 3 pages. (Maximum point value: 30 points each).

 

1) What were the characteristics, context and challenges of each of the four phases in the evolution of the UN’s involvement with economic development?

 

2) Summarize Clifford Bob’s arguments in “Merchants of Morality” concerning how and why certain global injustices attract attention and gain support and others do not. What role do NGOs play in this process?

 

3) What are some of the factors to which the success of human rights governance can be attributed? What are some of the obstacles that have hampered its effectiveness, and why?

 

4) What are global common spaces? What are some of the regimes that have been created for managing and protecting them?

 

Part II: Mini question (1 paragraph): 10 points
